AFFENPINSCHER BREED NOTES - 22nd February 2008

Frank Kane judged the Affenpinscher Club’s 27th Open Show at Daventry on Sunday 10th February. Frank had an entry of 121 dogs making 162 entries and that included 8 NFC. There were a high number of absentees – 34 in total which gave Frank 79 dogs to judge.

BIS went to the limit bitch winner, Mhairi Brown and Andrew Oliver’s homebred Orlock Carpathia (Ch Ingerdorm Drosselmeyer von Orlock x Orlock Mirkalla Karnstein). Carpathia won the RBCC at Windsor last year. RBIS went to Carole Mumby’s Kilbarchan’s Exclusive Copy for Carmichan JW Sh CM bred by Helen Moffat (Ch Carmichan Jazzy Jet JW x Ch Kilbarchan’s Final Copy). Best Dog and Best Opposite Sex in Show went to Carol Carlyle’s homebred Induna Little Tommy Tucker (Ch Ingerdorm Pickpocket x Induna Anna). RBD went to Josie Harvey and Julie McEvoy’s Kilbarchan’s Master Copy JW bred by Helen Moffatt and litter brother to the RBIS winner.

BPIS went to Mhairi and Andrew’s Riogaioch Voo Doo at Orlock bred by Suzanne Pirrie (Furstin Future Perfect at Tarcalion x Riogaioch Bewitched) and Best Opposite Sex Puppy in Show went to Suzanne’s Orlock Marius with Riogaioch bred by Mhairi and Andrew (Orlock Count Yorga x Orlock Countess Dracula).

Best Veteran in Show and the Oldest Veteran shown went to Wendy Boorer’s homebred Ch Furstin Opportune Moment (Flo-Stars Broadway Tommy to Ingerdorm x Ch Kilbarchan’s Wotshername). Unfortunately, the DOB was not printed in the catalogue so I don’t know her age.

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to everybody who worked hard to make sure the show ran smoothly. Many thanks to the hard working committee and the show manager for making the day a success and to Celine Desmond who knitted some lovely poached eggs on toast toys for the puppy classes. As usual Christine and Kenny McFarlane and the Bennett family worked hard to provide refreshments throughout the day and a delicious buffet lunch. It was also nice to meet and chat with new owners who had come to show their puppies, some for the first time.

The Crufts entries have been announced and our judge, Brenda Banbury, has 45 dogs and 35 bitches entered making a total of 80 dogs and 86 entries.

Crystal Palace Canine Society have Affenpinscher classes scheduled at their open show which takes place on Sunday 13th April at the South of England Showground, Ardingly. Andrew Oliver (Orlock) is the judge and entries close on Thursday 13th March (postmark).  Schedules can be downloaded at www.penneypine.co.uk or send an SAE to the secretary, Carole Canty, Twin Gates, 6 Station Road, Collingham, Notts, NG23 7RA.
