Our Dogs 15th August 2008
We had a new CC allocation at Paignton last week. Judge Jean Lanning had an entry of 44 dogs with 4 absentees and awarded BOB to her BCC winner - Carole Mumby’s Ch Kilbarchan’s Exclusive Copy for Carmichan JW Sh CM bred by Helen Moffat (Ch Carmichan Jazzy Jet JW x Ch Kilbarchan’s Final Copy). This is a fifth CC for Exclusive Copy and all five have been won with BOB. The DCC went to Jessica Gruninger’s Ch Downsbank Tattie Bogle with Marchog bred by Ruth Mochrie (Ch Darkle Devil May Care x Kilbarchan’s Hotenuff). The RBCC was a first for Jessica Gruninger’s Attila Urban Clash by Darkle bred by Chris and Dee Hayes (Ch Darkle Devil May Care x Attila Thunderheart) and the RDCC went to Nick and Alison Barnsby’s homebred Beaudiddley Lets Get Sirius (Ch Scapafield Schwarz Jet x Furstin Upstart for Beaudiddley). BP was a fifth award for Jessica’s homebred Darkle Mirrikyn (Ch Darkle Devil May Care x Darkle’s Minnikyn). Well done to Carole, Jessica and Nick and Alison.
Jane Waterfield judged Bakewell Agricultural Society’s Premier Open Show and had an entry of 6 dogs with no absentees. BOB went to Jenny Todhunter’s homebred Pennington Periwinkle (Ch Darkle Dashing Blade to Pennington x Delores Notation of Pennington) and RBOB to Periwinkle’s son – my own Pennington Prince Michael who is by Ch Downsbank Tattie Bogle with Marchog.
The August edition of the Kennel Gazette announced a new judge for East of England next year. Dr Andreas G Schemel (MRCVS) will be awarding CCs for the first time.
In the Christmas edition of Monkey Business there was an advert asking for a volunteer to produce an index of articles and reports for each edition of MB from the first issue to the latest issue. I offered to take on the job if nobody else wanted it. I started the task a couple of weeks ago as I am on summer holidays from work and am currently up to issue 16. I can’t believe how quickly the weeks are flying by and I will be back at work before I know it. Providing no other big jobs break out I hope to have the index completed by the end of this year and it will be available as a paper copy or as an electronic copy to any member who would like it. Although it is quite a time consuming task, I have enjoyed learning about the history of my favourite breed.
As well as catching up on all my summer jobs – gardening, sheep shearing and general field maintenance, to name but a few, we have been sourcing new items for the club stand which will be available at the Open Show at the beginning of October. Calendars will be available for 2009 and we have a new handmade greetings card range which will include Christmas cards.
I shall be going back to work on August 18th for a rest!
