Our Dogs 1st August 2008 The annual Affenpinscher Garden Party took place on Sunday 20th July at the riverside home of Toni and Neil Teasdale. I was unable to attend but Val Kemeny has kindly e-mailed me details of the day. About 109 people and a large selection of dogs ranging from Chihuahuas to a Pyrenean attended and most ran freely and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. The weather was cloudy but dry, perfect for the dogs. The fun classes had good entries and the judge was Gail Wise who has Schnauzers and has always liked Affenpinschers. The junior handling class was won by Rosie Shepherd and Buzz. The fancy dress was very well supported and Gail said this was the hardest class she has ever had to judge. The winner was Maisie and Kami with Barker as Captain Jack Sparrow and Jacko the Monkey Dog. People had obviously put a lot of time and effort into preparing their outfits for this class. The tea was delicious and the committee must be thanked for all their hard work that went into preparing for the garden party and for making the afternoon such a success. Val would like me to say a special thanks to Pat Seymour for her cakes and hard work, Jenny Todhunter for bringing the club merchandise stand and Gillian Obringer for helping on the stand. Thanks also to Glen Marlow for putting up and taking down the gazebos, Toni and Neil Teasdale for allowing their garden to be invaded and Chris Hayes for keeping Val supplied with coffee. Hopefully, next year I will be able to attend – we are just getting my Dad trained up to run the cattery and look after the dogs! Joyce Warrington and the Bolmacs have been showing over in Ireland and Joyce has e-mailed me to let me know of their successes. At Kilkenny Show Bodebi Surprisingly Magic at Bolmacs won the Dog Green Star. Lester is bred by John and the late Gary Turner and is by Ch Kinda Magic at Bodebi out of Bodebi Order of the Phoenix. Mrs E McClenaghan’s Tarcalion Fairdinkum took the Bitch Green Star and BOB and this made her a champion. The following day at Deise Show Lester won the Dog Green Star and took BOB and Joyce’s homebred Bolmacs Black Sapphire JW won the Bitch Green Star. Blod is by the same sire as Lester out of Ingerdorm Whoopee at Bolmacs. Sligo was the next show and Lester won Best Not Separately Classified, BOB and Second in Group 2. This has never before been achieved in Group 2 and Joyce must be delighted with her wins. Many congratulations to Joyce and the Bolmacs Affenpinschers and Mrs McClenaghan. Sophie Todhunter |
