AFFENPINSCHER BREED NOTES - 20th February

The Breed Records Supplement for the final quarter of 2007 details a total of 11 Affenpinschers from 6 litters registered between October to December giving a litter average of 1.83 pups;   the lowest litter average for some time. One litter of 4 was registered but two litters of 2 and three singleton litters brought the average down.  Two litters were sired by the same dog and the remainder by four different dogs.  Two breeders were responsible for two litters each and two others had single litters. Dogs were certainly in vogue this time as their ratio to bitches was 8:3.  Two Champion Certificates were issued and one Show Certificate of Merit.  Export pedigrees were issued for Affenpinschers to America, Germany and Sweden during this quarter bringing the annual total to 7.  There was one importation from America.

Overall the figures show an annual total of 118, almost as low as the 2001 figure of 115. Year on year the annual totals have had a downward trend since 2003’s record figure of 196 Affenpinschers registered.

Voting papers for judges for Affenpinscher Club shows have been posted to all eligible members and should be returned to the scrutineer by 5th March.
