Judge – Karen Edwards

Thank you to my stewards and the show manager for the efficient running of the ring and to the members for giving me the opportunity of judging our club show.
Affenpinschers were of mixed quality with the bitches being the stronger. There was still lots to like and many of my winners were sired by the same dog.

MPD 1. Avantgarde In Focus For Balata (NAF,TAF). 6 month baby with the confidence of an adult. Correctly shaped domed fore skull, dark sparkling eyes and extremely cheeky expression. Square in outline with correct minimal angulation fore and aft. Moved correctly as construction would suggest. 2. Downsbank What The Devil. 7 months, not quite the balance of 1 yet but still a nice puppy developing. Correct shape skull with dark eyes but would prefer them slightly smaller. Moved well.

PD 1. Darkle Daring And Brave. 11 month puppy with the correct outline, up to size but with everything in the right place. Correct dome shaped head, slight stop, fabulous cheeky expression coming from correctly placed dark sparkling eyes. Dentition correct. Short neck leading to upright shoulder with minimal angulation. Short body with back legs under the body. All this giving a lively strutting movement the breed calls for. I am sure he will do well very quickly. RBD & BPIS. 2. Avantgarde In Focus For Balata (NAF,TAF).

SpJD 1. Carowalk Jack Of Diamonds. Unfortunately he was looking for his owner and was very unsettled. A little longer in body than I was looking for. Correct dentition with strong turn up. Correct shaped head with monkey expression and dark eyes. Balanced angles fore and aft. Would like to see him move without distraction.

JD 1. Linsgift Hairgrid At Bolmacs (TAF). 14 months with good shaped body, balanced angles and correct tailset. Not too confident today but I am sure with practice he will be more settled.

SpYD 1. Avantgarde Citizen Smith For Balata. Correctly shaped square dog, well bodies with rear legs set well under his compact body. Tailset a little low but he carried his tail correctly. Head correctly proportioned giving the required monkey expression. Would like him shown on a loose lead which would enhance his lively strutting movement. 2. Orlock After Dark At Brandubh. Lovely lively outgoing temperament with high stepping front movement. Slightly longer in body than 1. Cheeky expression coming from correctly placed dark eyes and nose. Good dentition giving correct turn up.

ND 1. Scalene The Admiral Of Laydelins. 19 month boy with short neck onto upright shoulders compact body with correct tuck up, back legs set under body. Not moving with confidence.

TD 1. Avantgarde Citizen Smith For Balata. 2. Scalene The Admiral Of Laydelins.

PGD 1. Pennington Mungo Jerry. Won this class on his lively outgoing temperament. Correct head, eyes and muzzle. A tad long in back but balanced fore and aft. Correct high set tail carried well. Harsh coat. 2. Carmichan Brightest Star. Nicely made dog but not too happy today. Correct head, dark eyes, muzzle and dentition. Compact square body with balanced angulation. I am sure when he relaxes he can move as his correct construction suggests.

LD 1. Darkle Devilkin. Lovely size and shape with correct angulation. High set tail carried over back. Smart dog on the move and good outline on the stand. Dark sparkling eyes with correct head shape enhanced his monkey expression. 2. Scalene Missed Arrival. Different type to 1, again a good size and shaped dog, with good head shape and dark sparkling eyes, correct turn up enhancing his monkey expression. Not so confident on the stand but moved with the strutting movement his construction suggests he should.

OD 1. SU Ch. Riogaioch Velvetdandys Orlock. This dog never stopped showing and displayed correct outline both standing and on the move. Naughty expression coming from dark sparkling eyes and correct turn up. Excellnet dentition. Good compact body under a harsh coat. 2. Ch. Linsgift Hairy Potter. A real favourite of mine but sadly was not showing today and it cost him. He is a good size dog with a square outline, lovely head, dark eyes and naughty monkey expression. He is capable of moving much better than he did today.

VD 1. Attila The Hun. 7 year old up to size well-proportioned dog with balance and correct movement. Shown to get the best out of him by his young handler. 2. Ch. Darkle Dashing Blade To Pennington. Similar size boy and again well balanced. Just preferred the rear of 1.

SpOD 1. Jarube Knight To Remember. I have never seen this dog show so well but have always thought he was capable of much more than I have seen before. He is a well-balanced compact dog with correct shape of head and fabulous expression coming from dark, well placed, sparkling eyes, small high set ears, correct mouth with turn up all giving that mischievous monkey expression. His movement was balanced and created a true Affenpinscher profile. His harsh coat finished the picture. I hope he continues to show in this way. BD & BIS. 2. Orlock Marius. Handsome square dog with correct head, dark eyes and very mischievous monkey expression. He has a lively strutting movement and enjoyed every minute of his time in the ring. A harsh coat covered his compact body with correct tuck up.

MPB 1. Avantgarde Naughty But Nice. Just six months, litter sister to MPD and is just as her name says. Square in outline with correct shaped head, dark sparkling eyes, good turn up and naughtiness written all over her. Held her topline on the move and standing. 2. Scalene Naughty Nancy. Half-sister with similar attributes to 1 but not the confidence. Hopefully this will come.

PB 1. Carmichan Star Performer. 2. Carmichan Schwarz Diva For Scapafield. Litter sisters who I am sure will regularly change places. Unfortunately 2 was upset by the loud noises around the ring, as were many in this class and this reflected in her movement 2 very nice girls. Both have correct angulation, dark sparkling eyes and correct turn up. Coats are harsh and coming through nicely. 1 moved well.

SpJB 1. Carmichan Star Performer. 2. Carmichan Schwarz Diva For Scapafield.

JB 1. Florindale Double Delight. Up to size bitch but still feminine with correct head, dark eyes and correct dentition. Balanced front and rear angles which enabled her to move well. Harsh coat covering this correctly shaped bitch. 2. Brandubh Gypsophila Of Hamlock. Good head dark eyes and correct mouth with good turn up. Not quite as balanced as 1 but still lovely bitch.

SpYB 1. Riogaioch Moneypenny JW. She has the correct shaped body, balance and harsh coat, preferred the rear of 1.   2. Florindale Double Delight .

NB     1. Carmichan Star Performer. 2. Brandubh Gypsophila Of Hamlock.

TB 1. Avantgarde Greta Garbo At Florindale. Larger made bitch but still balanced with correct head and dark eyes. Prefered the rear of 1. 2. Carmichan Star Performer.

PGB 1. Scalene Saucy Sal JW. 20 month bitch with everything in the right place. Lovely correct head, dark sparkling mischievous eyes, correct dentition and turn up, so monkey like. She moves with the free strutting movement our standard calls for. Square outline with topline held on the stand and on the move. She will have a great future I am sure. BB & RBIS. 2. Attila Daisy Delicious By Chiaffie. Slightly smaller bitch well-made but slightly finer in bone. Moved soundly and showed well.

LB 1. Scalene Cinnamon. Very well made bitch who doesn’t always make the best of herself. Today she showed well. She has the correct amount of angulation and correct head shape which gave her this class. 2. Tonsarne’s Westbere Black Tulip. Prefered this bitches squareness and dark eye. She has an outgoing temperament which enhanced her expression. Unlucky to meet 1 showing so well today.

OB 1. Avantgarde Lady Ga Ga. Lovely bitch full of Affenpinscher character Beautiful head, dark sparkling eyes with very naughty expression, good turn up, high set small ears, short neck correct angulation enabling her to move with the required lift and strutting action. She has a square body with slight tuck up and legs under the body. Tail is high set and carried over her back. I am sure she will gain her title quickly. RBB. 2. Schon Madchen Of Tonsarne. Correct size bitch, dark sparkling eyes and correct turn up giving the required monkey expression. Short neck leading to shoulders with correct angles enabling her to move with light strutting movement. Not the coat of 1 but very good texture.

VB 1. Suphelli Pure Energy For Scalene. 11 and half years old and moving so well. I have always admired this bitch and could never understand why she was not a Champion, she has everything in the right place. She showed her socks off today and is a real credit to her owners. 2. Pennington Periwinkle. 8 years old and moved well today. Lots to like about her and I am so pleased she was awarded her title last year. 2 lovely bitches.

SpOB 1. Ch. Riogaioch Illusion JW. Very well made bitch of good size with correct balance. Lovely head and expression, correct mouth with good dentition and correct turn up. Compact body with slight tuck up and legs set under body. Tail carried over back and harsh jacket finished the picture. 2. Linsgift Sapphire. Different type to 1. Finer boned but still lively and sound mover. Correct shaped dark sparkling eye enhanced her cheeky expression, and coupled with her turn up gave the required monkey look. Harsh coat covered her body and her correct tail carriage finished the outline.
