Affenpinscher Club Championship Show

17th October 2009

Judge – Carole Mumby

Many thanks to the Show Manager and two Stewards for making everything run so smoothly, and to the exhibitors for entering some lovely dogs.  I had a great time judging these mischievous Monkey Terriers and looked for the attitude that makes Affenpinschers the comics they are.  Movement is still a problem I find with the floating goose step so typical of the breed being a rarity.  Size is still very variable but I feel there are other points more important than size at this time.  Just one thing I feel, as this is a dog show, dogs should be presented in a clean condition and if not this has to be considered in final placings.

MPD   1.  Pennington Mungo Jerry.  Mature baby with super outline.  Square body, excellent hind angulations and tail set.  Lovely harsh black coat.  Good front, smart mover.  BPD.  2.  Beaudiddley Keep Your Aaron.  6 months old and first show, good coat coming through.  Attractive head with dark sparkling eyes and good width to jaw.  A very promising pup.

PD     1.  Rattertat Shaggy Inkcap.  Loved the style and shape of this pup, but in the challenge for best puppy dog seemed unsettled.  Good head proportions with correct triangle, neat ears, and good coat, straight front, true free movement when settled.  2.  Avantgarde Spider Man.  Very immature pup with a rangy body that needs to drop.  A very happy showman who moves quite well, especially his front movement.

SpJD 1.  Darkle Devilkin.  Really took my eye this boy, small compact and sturdy body, excellent angulations front and back.  Very cheeky expression with wide jaw and excellent mouth, lovely eyes.  He moved with purpose and a lovely goose step.  Perhaps I would like him a little bigger but a lovely young dog.  Reminded me of his grandfather.  RCC.  2.  Avantgarde Spider Man.

JD     1.  Scapafield Schwarz Legacy.  Correct ear set, dark sparkling eyes and excellent mouth.  Good compact body with short neck and good angulations.  This dog really strides out on the move and shows that Affenpinschers can cover the ground easily.  Unfortunately he was upset by another dog in the challenge.  2.  Sueacres Black Ice With Sivid.  More mature dog who was not showing as well as he can.  Excellent harsh coat.  Good tail carriage.  Strong bone.

YD     1.  Neibade’s April Alp (Imp).  Small square dog with excellent front, small tight feet, harsh black coat.  Head ok, black eyes, good mouth but not the correct triangle.  Positive mover.  2.  Woomera Wompi Woo.  Better head than 1 with good ear placement, dark eyes.  True rear movement but not so settled in front.

TD     1.  Rattertat Shaggy Inkcap.  2.  Darkle Shabby Chic.  I like this dog’s lovely expression.  Strong, sturdy body with excellent ribcage.  I do wish he would enjoy showing.

GD     1.  Crazydays Prints Willyum.  Well he was showing real Affenpinscher character being very naughty on the move.  Good head proportions with nice eye.  Nicely balanced body with good substance.  All male when he moved, showed a true affenpinscher goose step, one of the best on the day.  2.  Kilbarchan’s Only Copy.  Not quite the head proportions of 1, balanced body with just enough tuck up, good tail set and carriage.  Correct hind angulations, unlucky to meet 1.

PGD   1.  Cofton Elijah For Balata.  Stylish dog with true floating goosestep.  Good front, level top line and correct tail set.  Good head proportions with lovely lip placement.  2.  Avantgarde Airborne Lad For Faehat.  Not the substance of 1 and not showing his best.  Loved his head with mischievous expression and dark sparkling eyes, moved ok.

MLD  1.  Cofton Elijah For Balata.  2.  Attila Triffic Trevor.  Well balanced dog with good coat texture.  Not quite as appealing in head as 1.  Good front action and moved steadily.

LD     1.  Attila Not Only But Also.  Nicely balanced dog, square body, good angulations front and back, coat correct texture.  Appealed in head properties with lovely dark eyes.  Excellent rib.  2.  Kilbarchan’s Rare Copy.  One of the truest movers on the day but not giving his all, seemed rather distracted.  Lovely head and expression, quite defiant, excellent mouth.  Loved his rib and substance.

OD    1.  Ch. Linsgift Hairy Potter.  Not a flashy dog, this one needs to be gone over to fully appreciate his virtues.  Well balanced head with no exaggerations, excellent mouth an appealing expression.  Good coat texture, quite heavily coated which hides a lovely outline.  CC & RBIS.  2.  Beaudiddley Lets Get Sirius.  A dog I have admired previously, all male wit god outline, correct coat, tail set and head properties.  Tends to overstretch himself at the front when he gets too enthusiastic.

VD     1.  Ch. Darkle Simian Slapstick.  1 and 2 litter brothers are a real credit to their owners and breeders.  Simian Slapstick just moved in a more positive and enthusiastic way.  BVIS.  2.  Ch. Darkle Dashing Blade To Pennington.  Loved his outline and the best of coats.

MPB   1.  Pennington Muriel Agnes.  Very mature bitch of excellent proportions.  Well bodied, good coat coming through.  Very true movement with good front and hind angulation.  In the challenge for best puppy bitch just preferred the overall balance of the puppy bitch winner.  2.  Roxilyn Just Mischief.  Very aptly named, cheeky expression with good lip placement.  Love her ears, small compact body.  Movement difficult to assess as she was being a little naughty but thoroughly enjoying herself, as puppies should at this age.

PB      1.  Avantgarde The Nymph Nimue.  Very appealing head with dark sparkling eyes, correct triangle and good under jaw.  Well balanced body with correct tail set.  Hind legs set well under body and good straight front.  Moved with style and confidence.  BPIS.  2.  Avantgarde Morgana.  Litter sister to 1, very square body, loved her goose step, so eye catching on the move.  Preferred head proportions of 1.

SpJB  1.  Avantgarde The Nymph Nimue.  2.  Avantgarde Morgana.

JB     1.  Attila Devil Dancer By Darkle.  Larger bitch and probably a little too long.  Well matured with excellent rib.  Harsh black coat.  Lovely head proportions with excellent mouth.  Short neck. Level top line.  Effortless movement, so sound and true.  2.  Tonsarne’s Westbere Black Tulip.  Small square bitch.  Cheeky expression with lovely tipped ears, darkest of eyes.  Not quite the movement of 1.

YB     1.  Attila Devil Dancer By Darkle.  2.  Woomera Daisy Cutter.  Not the confidence of 1 so didn’t make the best of herself.  Good outline and coat.  Moved well.

TB     1.  Robil Emmylou.  Nice size bitch in good coat.  Pretty expression.  2.  Balirolyat Mayfly Magic At Linconor.

GB     1.  Crazydays Her Name Is Lola.  Good size bitch with plenty of substance.  Appealing head with lovely expression.  Correct hindquarters, tail set.  Moved well, a good honest bitch.  2.  Woomera Daisy Cutter.

PGB.   1.  Furstin Passion Fruit At Tonsarne.  Small compact bitch with the harshest of coats.  A real monkey expression, she just oozes Affenpinscher personality, good angulation and lovely tight feet.  2.  Bolmacs Black Magic.  Not quite the outline of 1, very happy show girl.  Pretty head and expression with the darkest of eyes.  Nice goose step.

MLB   1.  Darkle Mirrikyn JW.  Now this is real affenpinscher attitude, cheeky, happy and totally over the top with energy.  Small bitch but with plenty of substance.  Excellent coat.  Excellent hindquarters which this kennel always excels in I would just like her a shade squarer to complete the picture.  2.  Ingerdorm Tifany.  Small neat square bitch with good rib, not quite the substance of 1.

LB     1.  Avantgarde Mistress Moonshine.  My find of the day and just what I wanted in movement.  Good floating goosestep, moved with purpose covering the ground with ease.  Liked her size and substance, good rib and straight front.  Classic head with good broad jaw.  CC & BIS.  2.  Winterkloud Alula Borealis For Beaudiddley.  Have done this bitch well in the past but on the day carrying little too much weight which didn’t help her movement.  She won this place on her overall conformation and lovely head proportions and expression.

OB     1.  Roxilyn Just Josephina With Scapafield.  Beautiful head with wicked expression, sparkling eyes and lovely ears.  Square body with good rear angulation.  Excellent coat quality.  Lovely true movement with good goosestep.  RCC.    2.  Attila Urban Clash By Darkle.  Not the squareness of 1 but another lovely head and expression.  Good rib, sound movement, another lovely goosestep.

VB     1.  Ingerdorm Whoopee At Bolmacs.  9 and a half years, in excellent condition small compact bitch of good proportions, moved well.  2.  Ch. Darkle Delinquent.  12 and a half years old.  Love this bitch and so pleased to see her giving a lot away in age to 1 but still moved well.  Excellent coat, lovely head and expression.

STUD DOG  1.  Darkle Devil May Care.  My all time favourite stud dog with a record that will be very hard to beat.  A privilege to judge him.

BROOD BITCH   1.  Woomera Lily Of The Valley.  Passes on her type to her progeny, well matched.  2.  Winterkloud Alula Borealis For Beaudiddley.
