Affenpinscher Club Open Show 14th February 2004 Judge – Jessica Gruninger PD 1. Ingerdorm Pickpocket, lovely size, very square with a level topline. Small attractively furnished head with plenty of turn up. Already developing the requisite rib. Liked his very correct hind angulation. Harsh black coat. BPD. 2. Caralean Storm Devil, Slightly larger and more mature than 1. Well sprung rib with little tuck up giving the correct tubular shaped body. Harsh coat. Very lively movement. JD 1. Carmichan Mr Bad Guy, larger type won this class on his movement, exhibited a floating goosestep. Attractive head with a broad domed brow, good mouth and an inquisitive expression. A real showman. 2. Moonstruck Malukie of Torbriar, smaller than 1 and with a better coat. Good head with neat ears. Just preferred the overall balance and movement of 1. A very correct little dog. TD 1. Tonsarne Tub Thumper. A really square dog with a level topline correct moderate angulation fore and aft. Dark eye and a very good mouth. Won on his really true movement, looked good from all angles. 2. The Diplomat from Avantgarde, smaller than 1 with a blacker coat, but not quite the conformation and movement of 1. Had a high stepping action in front, a happy and enthusiastic little showman. PGD 1. Capps Regarde Moi, a square medium sized dog with well fitting harsh black jacket. Small correct head with really dark eyes and a cheeky expression, neatest of ears. Had a straight front with a fairly steeply angulated shoulder topped by the correct short neck. Moved very well when he wanted to. 2. Tonsarne Tub Thumper LD This was a good quality class all the dogs had numerous good points. 1. Carmichan Jazzy Jet JW, this dog stood out in his class. Very square and compact, he presented a very eye-catching outline. Front absolutely straight resulting in an excellent floating goosestep, correct moderate hind angulation allowing the neat little steps taken with the legs under the body that are so characteristic of the breed instead of the drive often looked for by all rounders. Beautiful head, broad domed brow, dark eyes and very neat ears, excellent mouth all combined to give him a mischievous expression. Covered by a harsh shaggy coat enhancing his well-put together body. A real showman. BD and RBIS. 2. Avantgarde Price Rupert of Cransbere, a smaller dog than 1, with a good profuse black coat. Lovely head and expression very neat ears. Full of personality, showed well. OD 1. Ch Tapfer Herz at Ingerdorm JW, medium sized dog with lots of substance, really good spring of rib, level topline with a high set well carried tail that never stopped wagging. Round head with dark sparkling eyes, neat ears and an excellent mouth. A really honest unexaggerated dog. His movement and ring presence earned him RBD. 2. Attila the Barbarian, a less compact dog than 1 but still square and well balanced, level topline and good rib, short straight neck topped by an attractive masculine head similar to 1 in its qualities. Very harsh coat, preferred it to 1. Moved very soundly in all directions. VD This class was packed with quality, all the dogs were a real credit to their owners. Instead of constantly looking to the young stock for stud dogs I feel that perhaps people should make the effort to use these veterans as they were certainly all behind my principal winners. 1. Ch Cransbere Kindamagic at Bodebi, 8½yrs old and still a beautiful dog medium sized, compact and sturdy, front still straight and true, good spring of rib and level topline. Good head. Lovely harsh black coat. Particularly liked his very neat cat feet. Moved so soundly. Pushed hard for top honours. BVIS. 2. Ch Furstin Fruitful Union, 9½ yrs old and an absolute favourite of mine, a real stallion of a stud dog behind all my major winners today. Medium sized with the required tubular body instead of the tuck up seen frequently today. Still has his characteristic floating goosestep and correctly angulated hindquarters. A real athlete and showman. 1 & 2 could easily change places another day. MPB This was a quality class and some nice puppies had to go card less. 1. Balata After Audrey, very mature for her age with good spring of rib, wide hindquarters and a level topline. Lovely feminine head with dark eyes and a good turn up. Coat very black and attractive in its distribution. High set tail well carried. Moved well and with great confidence. 2. Pennington Periwinkle, smaller and squarer than 1 but less mature in her body development. Small feminine head with similar qualities to 1. Harsh jet-black coat. A little distracted on the move but exhibiting a very typical goosestep. Liked her very much. PB 1. Ingerdorm Drusilla. Litter sister to the BPD. Very square and sturdy with a level topline and a good tail set and carriage. Well-sprung ribs with little tuck up. Lovely head not overdone in any way, very dark sparkling eyes and a good mouth with strong evenly placed. Really good correct front and rear angulation, moved very well. Look forward to seeing her fully mature. A very well deserved BPIS in strong competition. 2. Pennington Periwinkle. SpJB 1. Stopford Furry Godmother, square and very sound with a really outgoing temperament, very harsh black coat. Good head with a naughty expression. Needs to mature in the body as she still looks a little leggy, this will improve with time. JB This was a very difficult class as I liked all the exhibits, they were all at different stages of maturity and this was reflected in my placings. 1. Capps Weasel In The Wildwold, this bitch was a big surprise for me as I remember her a naughty and immature puppy. Small but with plenty of bone, very short backed with a level topline. Great spring of rib, minimal tuck up and correct angulation she presented a very typical outline. Round head, neatest high set ears, dark eyes and a good turnip and mouth combined gave her a suitably wicked expression. Movement difficult to fault. RBB. 2. Roxilyn Just for Jo, quality youngster unlucky to meet 1. Like many very precocious puppies she is passing through a short period when she is neither puppy nor mature adult, just needs to finish developing before achieving top form again (this will happen very soon). Good overall balance, lovely head and expression. Moved well with a correct floating goosestep. SpYB 1. Tonsame Tittle Tattle. Very typical and monkey like, attractive head and expression, dark eyes. Compact and square with a good black harsh coat. Very sound and correct movement. A good quality bitch all through. 2. Cransbere Tyegar Lillie Of Winterkloud, a small active bitch full of mischief. Not quite as square as 1. Correct head with her dark eyes peeping out from ample furnishings. Moved well. NB 1. Jarube Love Me Tender, chunky with plenty of bone. Good rib, little tuck up and broad hindquarters. One of the best coats of the day, both black and extremely harsh, there was no need for any trimming on this bitch. Head broad with the required dome, good turn up. Showed well. 2. Bolmacs Cariad Ddu, smaller than 1 but sharing many of her attributes especially in the coat, just less mature. Pretty head with neat high set ears. Moved well. PGB 1. Jaquinta Uptown Girl At Bishopmarston, very feminine bitch, sturdily built with good spring of rib and a level topline. Good tail set and carriage. Very pretty head with ample turn up. Straight front, moved with a typical goosestep. 2. Attila The Tenacious, medium sized with good conformation. Square body, level topline, ideal tail set and carriage. Preferred the head of 1 but the coat of 2. Moved and showed well. LB This was a strong class. 1. Capps Kittykatoo Katango, giving her all today, a small, sturdy, square bitch with an exemplary front assembly rarely found in the breed today, short neck sitting on upright shoulders, short upper arm, elbows held neither in nor out and straight front legs culminating in tidy cat feet. Well sprung ribs, short loins and little tuck up giving her a correct body shape. Moderate rear angulation and a broad rear-end with no sign of a waist. Beautiful head with an expression that says ignore me at your peril. Could not fault her movement. Black, harsh coat. BB and BIS. 2. Suphelli Pure Energy for Scalene, a larger bitch than 1 but sharing many of her attributes, another one that should have been made up by now, I hope their owners will make an effort to remedy this. Moves very well but tends to loose interest when standing (this is a common problem especially in bitches). Liked her very much. VB 1. Ch. Carmichan Exclusive, like the VD winner another child of the illustrious Ch. Last Edition of Furstin. A beautiful bitch full of breed type and character. Difficult to fault, her movement is still better then the majority of the younger bitches here today. 2. Ch. Carmichan Bohemian Rhapsody, a daughter of the winner of this class. Excelled in spring of rib and coat texture. Although very lively not quite the front or movement of her mother. PROGENY D 1. Cox's Furstin Rumblestrip von Petitpaws. A neat typical little dog, who has passed his attributes on to his children. Also the oldest veteran in show. Well done Aldo! BRACE 1. Mrs. A.J. Teasdale’s Brace. Very well matched and moving in unison. Well handled. 2. Mrs. M. Boulcott’s Brace. Again well matched but not moving together as well as 1. TEAM 1. Mrs. J.R. Beale’s Team. Well matched and moved as one, very impressive handling. 2. Mrs. A.J. Teasdale’s Team. Well matched but not quite the control of team 1. JESSICA GRUNINGER |
