Affenpinscher Club Championship Show 1st October 2006 Judge - Annette Oliver-Wyles There was a superb numerical entry at this show and the show management team had everything in hand, my thanks to Julie my steward for keeping everything moving by getting each class in the ring promptly. There was a good atmosphere, so important at club shows. As an outsider looking in, I did feel the breed had altered since the last time I judged, a number of exhibits were not I felt typical of the breed but with griffon features. Others were far too tall and rangy and many did not have the typical monkey like expression that is what an Affenpinscher is all about. I was desperately looking for the ‘floating goosestep’, many were too overdone in angulation and size was from very weeny to very large. Tail carriage seems to be a problem at present too. Please don’t think I am being over critical, I know you all love the breed, but I know what I was taught by senior people in the breed and what your own club handbook describes as the correct Affenpinscher and I did my best to judge to it. MPD 1. Bolmacs Enchanter, pleasing breed type, had the larger width of jaw, full dentition. Nicely balanced, good tail carriage. Coat a little soft today and white on chest. 2. Darkle Shabby Chic, rather longer in body, nice small head but a little finer in muzzle. Good coat. PD 1. Laroussu Rakosi Von Orlock (Imp), this was a really nice puppy with many pleasing features, sound on the move too. Unfortunately he was not the most gregarious baby and this lost him higher awards today. Would like to see him when he is more mature and got the hang of showing. BPD. 2. Darkle Dishily Dishevelled, another with typical head properties and general type but slack in topline today and a little wide in front. 3. Carmichan Kit N Caboodle For Balata. Let himself down moving, as he was rather close behind but good size and lots of good points. SpJD 1. Carmichan Jack Jazzamatazz, well made short-coupled boy with sufficient tuck up, straight front. Lovely head Short neck, legs well set under. Good textured harsh coat. Moved well and carries tail well. Immediately you look at him he shouts Affenpinscher. To be hyper-critical perhaps a shade more width of jaw would finish off the picture. RDCC. 2. Darkle Dishily Dishevelled. 3. Attila The Merciless made in a larger mould and lower set tail. Good mouth. JD 1. Carmichan Jack Jazzamatazz. 2. Ingerdorm Scrumbtious JW very similar to winner, but preferred head of Jack and slightly larger eye on winner. Coat felt a little soft today and he has finer bone. Super showman. 3. Darkle Dishily Dishevelled. TD 1. Bodebi Surprisingly Magic At Bolmacs . Tall boy but cute monkey expression. Small ears, looks good in profile moving. 2. Tonsarne Trout Tickler At Tarcalion. GD 1.Withheld. 2. Ingerdorm Scooby By Chiaffe. 3. Furstin Free Thinker For Joiella. PGD 1. Attila Not Only But Also, good mouth, lovely eyes with blackest eye rims, small domed head and short neck. Tail tight, legs well under, good show man. 2. Harmanisam’s Art Romeo, happy showman, just a tad longer in body. Super tail set and carriage. Well handled and presented by a young lady. 3. Jarube Thunderbolt. Short muzzle, nice type, not so positive at rear moving. MLD 1. Robil Daniel Deronda, 23 months, best tail carriage of the class. Could be shorter in body but has balance. Stands with legs well under. Small head and ear, nice mouth just occasionally lets them catch on his lip. 2. Beaudiddley Lets Get Sirius, shorter body, cutest expression and blackest eye rims. Moves out well, tight tail. 3. Pennington Morris The Minor. Coat felt a little soft today but lovely typical head and expression. Not quite so tidy moving today. LD 1. Roxilyn Just So For Rosehayes JW, very small boy with lovely eyes, super mouth, jaw and expression. Small high set ears. 2. Robil Daniel Deronda. 3. Scapafield Schwarz Komiker, not so neat in jaw line. OD Well here was a challenge to sort out. 1. Jarube Ace of Spades JW, really liked this little man. Good typical boy with a lovely body under a harsh coat, just right depth above elbow, sufficient tuck up. Lovely small domed head and neat small ears set on high. He has super mouth and neat teeth. Cutest monkey like expression and sparkly mischievous eyes. Short neck, tidy in elbows, good front, adequate bone, lovely tail carriage. This lad has muscles where he ought to. He moved out proudly and soundly. He was in my opinion a thoroughly good type of Affenpinscher without exaggeration anywhere and had the showmanship to go with it. DCC and RBIS. 2. Orlock Count Dracula, all Affenpinscher, straight out of the trees expression, just not so steady on the move today. 3. Ch. Balata Rite Bobby Dazzler. Another really good lad, lots of super points, moved quite well too, coat a little soft today. MPB 1. Ingerdorm Bumpsadaisy, a little scrap but with all the right points. Square outline. Good tail carriage and well set on. Short neck, head well proportioned to overall size. Moved stylishly. 2. Darkle’s Arabella Miller At Balata, saucy expression, slightly longer cast, bags of confidence. PB 1. Kilbarchan Hot Copy, delightful head shape, lovely eyes and black eye rims, neat small ears. Short square shape finished off with good tail set and carriage. BPIS. 2. Carmichan Lucy Lastic With Scapafield. Cute expression on this baby, lovely sparkly eyes. Straight front, lots of good points. 3. Tonsarne Idle Gossip. Slightly finer all through but all the right bits, very immature compared to others. SpJB 1. Roxilyn Just The Ticket. 13½ months, good breed type has a pleasing small head with good shape. Not overdone with angulation, short neck. Has enough depth of brisket and tuck up. 2. Orlock Oltenia. Happy show girl with cute monkey expression. Slightly finer in body at present. 3. Tonsarne Idle Gossip. JB 1. Orlock Carpathia. First two placings looked very pleasing in profile with a nice floating front movement. Really fell for the charms of this little lady. Has nice outline, good body under harsh coat, looks you straight in the eye! 2. Avantgarde Mae West. Slightly larger head properties and a little less tidy in front today. 3. Ingerdorm Giggles. Dainty little lady, lots of good points all through but movement let her down today. YB 1. Linsgift Sardonyx. Would have liked to mix the two exhibits in this class. Preferred head of winner and coat but tailset and body of second! 2. Florindale Comedy Queen. TB 1. Ingerdorm Incie Wincie At Robil. Came from Junior bitch but went so much better in this class and won easily here. 2. Cransbere Eve. Slightly heavier set, occasionally shows off his grin. 3. Linsgift Sardonyx. GB 1. Scalene Wow By Chiaffe. Showed her little heart out. Well made, with good breed type including head properties. Level topline, nice body shape and tuck up. 2. Tonsarne Huff N Puff. Such a lovely type of Affie but hated the whole thing. Ticks all the right boxes so hope to see her when she enjoys it all more. PGB 1. Roxilyn Just Josephina With Scapafield. Out moved everybody in this class, floated around nicely and has the good body shape to go with it. Cutest head too and expression. Tail up and over back. Straight front. 2. Tonsarne Goody Two Shoes At Mansu. Cobby dog, tad overweight perhaps. Level topline and right for angulation. 3. Linsgift Sapphire. A little longer but such a typical headpiece. MLB 1. Orlock Walachia. Another with ‘straight out of the trees’ expression, fabulous body shape, won on her overall good type. Is so definitely an Affenpinscher. RBCC. 2. Carmichan All That Jazz. Another little cracker, full of good points. 3. Scalene Wow By Chiaffe, three nice bitches. LB 1. Riogaioch Bewitched. Full of presence, has a lovely overall appearance including super jaw, good width and teeth alignment. Neat small ears, sweet expression, just a fraction keen with tail, but a super bitch and I see she is litter sister to the CC winner. 2. Darkle Devils In The Detail. Actually preferred the tail carriage on this lady, she has a good body, legs well set under, right for angulation. 3. Orlock Mina Murray. Enthusiastic show girl, a fraction tubby but very much an Affie and excellent mover. OB 1. Ch. Riogaioch Illusion JW, very worthy winner of this strong class, she has all the characteristics required in my opinion. A delightful monkey expression, right size head, superb mouth and wonderful expression. Blackest eye rims around sparkly eyes. Neat small high set ears. Lovely body shape, correct angulation, legs well set under and level topline. Tail is high set and carried well. Good ribs and tuck up. Moved around as if she owned the ring, just a smashing top flight Affenpinscher. BCC BIS. 2. Tonsarne Tittle-Tattle. Very classy bitch, again you have ticked the right boxes, just a little less body. 3. Ingerdorm Drusilla. Good overall outline and shaped well. VB 1. Darkle Debutante For Riogaioch, very similar type to all the others brought in the ring by this handler, not too happy moving today but got the breed points. 2. Suphelli Pure Energy For Scalene. Larger but sound mover and lovely mouth. 3. Furstin Friendly Face At Scalene. 12 years old and still got white teeth. Looking a little grizzled but at 84 years in human terms she had what it takes. STUD DOG 1. Ch. Darkle Devil May Care with his team of offspring, all looking so typical of the breed, has been a great influence on many kennels. BROOD BITCH 1. Ch. Riogaioch Festival. Obviously a good dam and her sweet temperament has been passed on. ANNETTE OLIVER-WYLES
